Of course, we had to try Détour Noir ourselves. And yes, it’s true—the bottle isn’t the prettiest, but honestly, that’s the last thing we care about. The big cap isn’t the most practical either, but we can live with it. The sprayer was a pleasant surprise; it’s really good, so you get a nice, generous mist of the great-smelling perfume.
The opening is bold, fresh, and spicy, which might be a bit much for some people, but we really like it. After the initial burst, the scent softens into something sweeter, warmer, and more balanced. At this point, you can really appreciate the quality hidden in this budget-friendly fragrance.
We found the longevity and sillage of Détour Noir to be more than impressive. It projects well for about 3 hours before it settles closer to the skin. If you’re using it for the first time, start with no more than 4 sprays—it can be a bit overwhelming otherwise.
We think Détour Noir is especially suited for men, and you can wear it pretty much year-round, except when it’s really hot.
