Review: club de nuit intense EDP - armaf

RESEMBLES AVENTUS BY CREED

One of the most popular fragrances from Armaf is Club de Nuit Intense. It’s getting a lot of attention on social media because it’s said to be an excellent dupe of the much-loved Aventus. Armaf has released several versions: Club de Nuit Intense EDT (Eau de Toilette), Club de Nuit Intense EDP (Eau de Parfum), Club de Nuit Intense Pure Parfum, and even a limited edition. For simplicity, we’ll focus on the EDT and EDP versions today.

The scent

Most people describe the opening of the EDP version as fresh and intense, with strong notes of lemon, bergamot, and pineapple. After this refreshing start, the scent gradually becomes smokier and fruitier, thanks to the addition of jasmine, rose, and musk. The EDT version smells almost the same, but the opening is even sharper, and the transition to the smoky, fruity phase is less smooth.

Top Notes: lemon, bergamot, pineapple, apple, blackcurrant

Heart Notes: birch, jasmine, rose

Base Notes: musk, patchouli, vanilla, ambergris

The price of Club de Nuit

The EDP version is available in a 6.8 oz bottle. Below are the current prices from various retailers. Keep in mind that shipping costs and delivery times may vary by supplier.

De meningen op het internet

There are plenty of opinions about Club de Nuit Intense online, and they’re pretty mixed. On YouTube, Reddit, and especially TikTok, Club de Nuit Intense is getting a lot of attention. YouTuber Rotten Rebel gives a pretty clear comparison of the EDP and EDT versions in just 5 minutes. You can check out the video here.

In the YouTube videos below, Scenteno and School of Scents share their thoughts in under a minute. School of Scents thinks the EDP version offers much better value than Aventus. He gives it a solid 9 and calls it an excellent alternative.

There are also several TikTok videos about Club de Nuit Intense. The most viewed review is by "thenoelthomas," and he’s positive about this dupe as well.

On Reddit, opinions are split. Some folks think Club de Nuit Intense is a fantastic, cheaper alternative, while others feel it smells like toilet cleaner and don’t get why it gets so much praise.

We also checked Parfumo and Fragrantica. Fragrantica lumps all the versions together, which can be misleading. Parfumo separates the EDP and EDT, and you’ll see they score similarly across the board.

Our Experience

We went with the EDP version and, to be honest, we get why this perfume is so hyped online. The scent is pretty decent; we find the opening fresh, but not overly special. We expected a bit more from the dry-down and the performance. It seems Club de Nuit Intense projects for about 1 to 2 hours, then becomes a skin scent that stays close to the skin.

We’ve smelled the original Aventus ourselves, and while it might be a personal preference, we also find its opening nothing extraordinary. It’s not surprising, though, since the opening of Club de Nuit Intense and Aventus are nearly identical. Both have a similar citrusy opening and smoky dry-down phase. That’s why we can understand why enthusiasts call Club de Nuit Intense a good, affordable alternative. It’s a decent dupe of Aventus in that sense.

Maybe we’re nose-blind to the sharp opening, which makes it harder for us to judge the dry-down and longevity. Perhaps our bottle needs more time to mature (our batch is only 5 months old), or maybe we had too high expectations due to the online hype... still, we hoped for a bit more from Club de Nuit Intense.

Is Club de Nuit Intense worth it?

We’re torn on this one. Based on our experience and preferences, we find Club de Nuit Intense worth trying, but not particularly special. The opening feels a bit dull, and the longevity seems a bit short. But again, this is just our personal take.

A lot of people actually really enjoy the opening of both Club de Nuit and Aventus. To give credit where it’s due, Armaf has done a great job creating an affordable dupe. If you’re a fan of Aventus but don’t want to spend around 200 euros, Club de Nuit Intense is definitely worth a try.
