REVIEW: 9pm - afnan
Resembles ultra male by jean paul gaultier
One of the most hyped perfumes on social media right now is Afnan’s 9PM. This fragrance is a dupe of the equally popular Ultra Male. But does 9PM really live up to the hype?
The scent
9PM by Afnan is an inviting men’s fragrance with a warm and sweet scent profile. It opens with a mix of apple, lavender, and bergamot, which gives a sweet and fresh first impression. Later, it’s followed by cinnamon and vanilla, adding warmth and depth to the scent.

Opinions on the internet
With 9PM gaining popularity, there’s plenty of buzz online. This dupe is definitely selling well, with lots of reviews on the internet and most of these reviews are super positive!
On YouTube, there’s also a lot of content about 9PM. Dutch YouTuber Curly Fragrance has a video where she mentions that 9PM might even be a better alternative than the original. Below are a few short YouTube videos from popular fragrance channels Rotten Rebel and School of Scent. Both are really impressed with 9PM as an alternative to Ultra Male.
The well-known TikTok account "fbfragrances" also posted a short unboxing and review. He honestly prefers the smell of Ultra Male but says 9PM wins when it comes to price-quality ratio.
On Reddit, the general consensus is positive about 9PM, though there are a few negative opinions. The sweet notes, in particular, seem to divide people.
On Parfumo, over 1,000 people have shared their thoughts, and 9PM scores excellently. The price-quality ratio gets a solid 9, while the scent itself scores an 8.1. Most reviews on Parfumo highlight that the fragrance leans on the sweeter side.
We also checked Fragrantica, where the scent scores 4.52 out of 5, and on Amazon, it has a rating of 4.5. Users on both sites seem to be very pleased with this dupe!
Our take
Of course, we’ve tried 9PM by Afnan ourselves, and we’re definitely impressed. We love sweet fragrances, and 9PM has a delicious bubblegum-like opening. After the opening, which lasts quite a while for us, the vanilla notes subtly come through.
What surprised us the most was the longevity, which is extremely good. Even after 5 hours of wearing it, people around us could still smell the fragrance, and 9PM continued to receive compliments. We did come across some online reviews that mentioned the longevity and projection were disappointing. We suspect that these might be newer batches that still need to go through the maceration process.
We think the name 9PM is cleverly chosen because this fragrance really shines in the evening. We mostly wear this scent for date nights or a night out. Some people consider 9PM a unisex fragrance, but we definitely see it as more of a men’s scent.
Lastly, we want to mention the bottle. It’s a sturdy, heavy bottle with a fully metal cap, which gives it a high-quality feel.
Does 9PM live up to the hype?
We think it is. It’s a great dupe of Ultra Male, and in terms of price-quality ratio and performance, 9PM scores really high. At the same time, we believe there are plenty of other alternatives out there that are just as good and deserve the same attention. One example is Ramz Silver by Lattafa.
We’re very satisfied with 9PM. If the price stays around 30 euros, it’s an excellent purchase. However, if you’re not into sweet-smelling fragrances, you might want to skip this one.
